Chairman's Circle Spotlight: Claremont Lincoln University

Claremont Lincoln University is a nonprofit, online educational institution accredited by the WASC Senior Colleges and University Commission offering master’s degrees and certificate programs focused on building our student's leadership and engagement skills to create sustainable social change in any work environment or community organization. Our Claremont Core® is an integrated series of advanced coursework in Mindfulness, Dialogue, Collaboration and Change that enhance critical perspectives and collaborative skills that are essential to bring about change and are embedded into each of our master’s degree programs.

Currently, CLU offers several career-enhancing masters of arts degrees including Ethical Leadership, Interfaith Action, Social Impact, and in the Fall of 2017 (pending WSCUC approvals) we will begin to offer new M.A. degrees in Healthcare Leadership, Human Resource Leadership, and Civic Leadership. Claremont Lincoln’s programs are “Online by Design” created specifically for working professionals with busy lifestyles and career commitments. We believe the online format gives students a rich and dynamic collaborative learning environment where they can dialogue with classmates more effectively and engage with learning on their schedule.

Our online teaching models are not only convenient but affordable to students throughout the U.S. and abroad. A diverse, international cohort enriches the educational experience, and twice a year in-person gatherings offer optional opportunities for further engagement, networking and collaboration. By the end of the master’s coursework at CLU, students articulate and apply a change management program they can use to facilitate positive change in any context. The Capstone Action Project requires students to facilitate a change management project that includes mindfulness, dialogue, and collaboration with stakeholders to promote positive change.

Students who attend Claremont Lincoln come from every walk of life and career path imaginable, from government and nonprofit organizations, to private corporations and healthcare, as well as active military, veterans and their families. Over twenty-five percent of our students have already attained a post-baccalaureate degree and are utilizing their CLU M.A. degree to enhance their leadership, conflict resolution and engagement skills to create better workplaces and communities where they live and work around the world.

CLU's mission strives to embody and teach the Golden Rule, to be a place where students learn how to treat others as they would like to be treated. And, our vision is to create a world in which disputes between those that have conflicting views or opinions are addressed peacefully without violence or aggression.
