New Member Spotlight: Matt Reynoso - Heartland Payment Systems

Claremont, Ca - Heartland Payment Systems was founded in 1997 by Bob Carr, who had a vision and a mission to bring Transparency back to an industry that clearly had no transparency. Many Business owners have had frustrating experiences with credit card processing companies and for the last 20 years Heartland Payment Systems has been providing a solution that has helped businesses in their long-term success.

Heartland Payment Systems is a leading worldwide provider of payment technology services that delivers innovative solutions that are driven by customer needs globally. Our technologies, partnerships and employee expertise enable us to provide a broad range of products and services allowing our customers to accept all payment types across a variety of distribution channels in many markets around the world.

Heartland also created The Merchant Bill of Rights to promote fair credit, debit and prepaid card processing practices on behalf of owners of small- to mid-sized businesses. In 2011, legislation was passed that could mean significant savings for many businesses. The Durbin Amendment, part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, placed a cap on interchange or transaction fees and was intended to provide merchants relief from card processing costs. Since the amendment was passed, Heartland has delivered every cent of savings to its rightful recipients—business owners.

Heartland Payment Systems is a fortune 1000 company that is endorsed by over 250 trade and retail associations such as the National Restaurant Association and the American Hotels & Lodging Association.

Matt Reynoso was born in Claremont, California and has lived in Claremont his whole life. He went to Chaparral Elementary, El Roble, and Claremont High School. He played 3 years of Baseball at Claremont High School, 2 years at Citrus College, and 2 years at Cal Poly Pomona while getting his degree in Business Finance. He did not make the Freshman Baseball Team at
Claremont High School, but he finished his baseball career at Cal Poly Pomona playing with a team that competed in back-to-back Division II College World Series and finished 3rd in the nation both years.

During his senior year of college at Cal Poly Pomona, Matt did a Financial Analysis Project on Credit Card Processing companies. After diving into the financials of the credit card processing companies, Heartland stood out to him in their financial accomplishments, vision and mission to bring transparency back to an industry that had none. This project taught him a lot about the industry and led to Matt making the decision to represent Heartland Payment Systems.

Transparency, honesty, and integrity were foundations that he was raised on and Matt wanted to be a part of Heartland’s core mission to bring this back to the community he has continued to love and live in.
