FOOTHILL AIDS PROJECT RECEIVES MAJOR GRANT FROM
ELIZABETH TAYLOR AIDS FOUNDATION

The grant will go toward providing mental health counseling to clients.

Claremont, Calif.: The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation has awarded a grant of $10,000 to Foothill AIDS Project (FAP), which provides services for people living with HIV and AIDS.

Maritza Tona, the executive director of FAP, said, "Foothill AIDS Project has spent 30 years caring for all people living with HIV and AIDS. It's not always well understood that an HIV diagnosis often comes with other diagnoses--depression, anxiety, substance abuse. Mental health counseling helps FAP treat the whole person, and thanks to this generous grant from the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, we'll be able to provide that care and treatment to over 1,000 clients in the 27,000 square miles we cover."

Under the terms of the grant, the $10,000 will help FAP provide mental health counseling to over 1,000 people living with HIV and AIDS in southern California. Mental health and substance and abuse counseling is one of FAP’s major departments. The agency’s numerous counselors provide one-on-one counseling, support groups, and other services to help people living with HIV and AIDS to overcome depression, addiction, and other mental health challenges.

About Foothill AIDS Project: FAP offers a full spectrum of programs and services that empower clients in three counties to manage their own long-term health goals. Integrated treatment and chronic care management, paired with stable housing planning and outreach, provide many tools for people living with HIV/AIDS to live longer, healthier, and more stable lives.
