(June 24\, 2014) For more than 29 years\, the Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures program has provided therapeutic outdoor experiences to thousands of people with disabilities and special needs. In continuing its efforts to serve this population\, Casa Colina Outdoor Adventures is pleased to present the Land Meets Sea Sports Camp\, August 6 8\, 2014 in Long Beach at Marine Stadium and other sites in the area. \n\n \n\nLand Meets Sea Sports Camp introduces adaptive water\, land\, recreation and competitive sports. People with varying abilities will have the opportunity to participate in numerous sports activities including hand cycling\, jet skiing\, water skiing\, outrigger canoeing and sailing. Wheelchair sports include quad rugby\, hockey\, basketball\, and tennis. First time campers can try new sports while those returning can participate in activities that that they have enjoyed for many years.\n\n \n\nThe Outdoor Adventures staff is comprised of Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialists along with trained volunteers ensuring the highest level of safety for all participants. \n\n \n\nOne of the most unique aspects of the camp is the diversity of people who attend. Each year\, the camp draws participants from children to adults with a wide range of disabilities. Beginners as well as those with experience are made to feel welcome and capable as they try challenging sports and recreational activities.\n\n \n\nCasa Colina Outdoor Adventures program focuses on abilities rather than disabilities to enable its members to experience success both physically and emotionally. This program utilizes the outdoors to create unique opportunities where people with disabilities can enjoy a sense of community\, gain self-confidence and share new experiences with people of all abilities. \n\n \n\nThe fee for the three-day camp is $300 which includes participation in all events\, lunches\, goodie bag\, and a t-shirt. For more information about attending the camp or if you would like to request a complete schedule of activities\, please call Casa Colina's Outdoor Adventures office at (909) 596-7733\, Ext. 4131. \n\n \n\nAbout Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation\n\nCasa Colina was founded in 1936 in Chino\, CA to provide rehabilitative care to children with polio. In 1959\, it moved to a new facility in Pomona\, CA and expanded its services to treat people of all ages and disabilities resulting from neurological and/or orthopedic conditions. In recent years\, Casa Colina has renovated its entire 20-acre Pomona campus to include a state-of-the-art 68-bed acute rehabilitation hospital accredited by The Joint Commission that includes outpatient and children's services\; post-acute residential care accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)\; adult day health care\; specialty physician's clinics\; diagnostic imaging\; ambulatory surgery\, and more. The new Casa Colina Medical Office Building opened on the Pomona campus in June 2013 and construction of a 31-bed medical/surgical hospital wing is currently underway with a scheduled opening in 2015. It also operates a freestanding outpatient center in Azusa\, CA.
