Claremont, CA  – Ophelia’s Jump Productions announces the the second production of their fifth season with A Behanding in Spokane, a 2010 black comedy written by the award-winning Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. Due to a scheduling conflict with their recent location, this production will be performed in an industrial space located at 2114 Porterfield Way in Upland, located next door to LAST NAME BREWING.

From playwright Martin McDonagh (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Beauty Queen of Leeann, The Pillowman) comes his first American-set play. Carmichael has been searching for his missing left hand for a quarter of a century. Enter two bickering lovebirds with a hand to sell, and a hotel clerk with an aversion to gunfire, and we’re set for a hilarious roller coaster ride of love, hate, desperation and hope.

Originally presented in 2010 at the Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway, the cast included Christopher Walken as Carmichael and Sam Rockwell.

“You’re welcome to interpret A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE as a fable about to lost souls who have more in common than they realize.or you can relax and revel in the virtuosity with which Mr. McDonagh stuffs wildly funny words into the mouths of his cast…Mr. McDonagh is one of the half-dozen finest playwrights in the English-speaking world.”

—The Wall Street Journal

“Insane yet also fiendishly funny. McDonagh is a specialist in unleashed violence, in which he shamelessly revels. Here the violence is comical, and e are kept guessing throughout a farce that is irresistible as it is improbable…moves at farce speed from shock to comic shock.”
