Lunch will be hosted by Metro Gold Line
The Foothill Gold Line light rail line will one day connect the City of Claremont to the expanding network of rail lines throughout Los Angeles County. The Metro Gold Line was recently extended about 12 miles east from Pasadena to the city of Azusa and is now serving more than 50,000 riders each weekday. The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority is the agency responsible for planning, designing and building the Gold Line. Once completed with construction, the agency turns the project over to Los Angeles County Metro to operate.
Los Angeles County Metro has recently decided to place a sales tax measure on the November 2016 ballot to fund more than 100 transportation projects throughout the county over the next four decades. If approved by voters, Measure M (the Los Angeles Traffic Improvement Plan) will fund the Foothill Gold Line extension from Azusa to Claremont.
Attend this luncheon to learn what both agencies are currently planning. Lilian De Loza-Gutierrez from Los Angeles County Metro will update us on Measure M and Lisa Levy Buch from the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority will update us on the agency’s current effort to ready the next segment of the line for construction.
