Description
Exhibition of Myriam J. A. Chancy’s, Ayiti Alive!: 2011-2014, photographs documenting the immediate post-earthquake period, with participation from Swiss/Haitian artist, Sasha Huber, and her video response, Haïti Chérie (2010-11).
January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook Haiti to its core at 4:53 pm, local time, leaving 1.5 million without housing and nearly 300,000 dead. Four years later, efforts at reconstruction continued. These photographs, taken in Port-au-Prince, Léogane, LaGonav, Jacmel, and Santo Domingo, from 2011-2014, tell a story of post-earthquake Haiti, of the persistence and beauty of its people and land.
The show consists of 52 digital photographs printed on aluminum metallic sheets, ranging in size from 11×14 to 16×20. All photographs sold (prices range from $80-160) will benefit local grassroots Haiti organizations.
