About Us

McKinley Children’s Center has been caring for society’s most vulnerable children for over a century. A private, non-profit residential treatment center, non-public school, foster home, day treatment and mental health resource, McKinley brings a wide spectrum of healing, teaching and comforting skills to children who have been the victims of abuse, abandonment, neglect or other forms of trauma.

Collaborating with the Department of Children and Family Services, McKinley welcomes infants, children and adolescents in need of healing. The Center’s specialized, comprehensive counseling and education programs provide these youngsters with the support and treatment they need to recover from their painful pasts. Each child’s road to recovery is different, but children typically remain in care six to 18 months, leaving when they are able to function successfully in the community.

McKinley Children’s Center is licensed by the State of California and is a 501 [c][3] non-profit organization under federal code. It is a member agency of the California Alliance of Child and Family Services, the Association of Children’s Service Agencies, and the Child Welfare League of America.
