Description
The Claremont Museum of Art presents a special program featuring former Los Angeles Times Art Writer Suzanne Muchnic and Mary Fuller Roberts sharing personal stories and insights into the life and work of artists Aldo Casanova and James Fuller. These two men, with very different personalities and artistic styles, shared a great friendship as faculty members at Scripps College. They were both inspired by nature and displayed that in their artistic expressions.
Suzanne Muchnic will discuss her friendship with Aldo Casanova and the evolution of his sculpture from the early days to his later works. A highly accomplished and successful sculptor, Casanova had an enthusiastic and irrepressible spirit and a strong work ethic that inspired decades of Scripps women and won him many prestigious national awards.
Mary Fuller Roberts, the daughter of James Fuller, will offer her personal insights into the personality and artistic expression of her multi-talented, thoughtful and unassuming father, whose work as a skilled printmaker, wood sculptor and prolific painter has gained legions of fans and collectors.
