Tax Measure Coffee
Description
Please join us for coffee and conversation on Measure CR, the ballot measure which proposes a 3/4% increase to the Sales and Use Tax in Claremont. Join us on Tuesday, September 3rd at 8:30 at the Chamber office to discuss why we believe this measure is so important to the future of our City.
Claremont Chamber of Commerce Position:
As an organization dedicated to promoting a thriving business community in Claremont, the chamber has historically closely scrutinized any proposed tax measure. After careful consideration, the Claremont Chamber supports the City of Claremont’s proposed local tax measure because it will ensure that Claremont sales tax dollars stay in Claremont for use in funding important services such as maintenance of urban forests, transportation infrastructure, maintenance of community parks and programs, and police staffing that directly affect Claremont’s status as an attractive city to visit, shop and live. This tax will be paid by anyone who purchases goods in Claremont, regardless of their residence. There is a high likelihood that Claremont residents will end up paying higher sales tax
because outside agencies are actively considering putting a tax measure on the ballot. Passage of this local measure will ensure that our tax dollars stay in Claremont.
